Indie Rock’n on a Saturday Night ~ A Special Nothing Special

My old Production Manager, and hopefully also future Production Manager, once said to me between a moment of frustration and a moment of apathy, “Just another Hollywood story.” He was overseeing the deliveries for our show, deliveries that arrived late and incomplete.

It’s true, his sentiment. I suggested it be “Just another piece of Hollywood history” and it stuck.

Now, tonight, in 22 minutes, that same co-worker will take the stage at The Three Clubs club in Hollywood. Tonight. Tonight he is Mr Kerosene. Mr Kerosene is the svelte kick ass lead singer of Frantic Romantic, a passionate five piece electro-rock group.

Mr Kerosene is a piece of Hollywood history. Or rather he’s, “just another piece of Hollywood history”. Half a dozen bands will play here tonight, it’s nothing special, no one has ever heard of The Three Clubs. But you’ve heard of Hollywood, and he’s singing lead, in Hollywood.

The point is Hollywood is a grind. It’s real. And real is often boring and full of laziness, mistakes, and shortcuts. But Hollywood history, sometimes, is indelible. So I pray to thee, Mr Kerosene, may Hollywood history shine on you tonight, and may you kick its ass.
